God Honors the Faithful

by Rocky Chambers

After receiving the good news about my wife’s dramatic improvement I asked the Lord, why.  In fact I believe that is the question many ask concerning healing.  Why do some get healed and others not.  I won’t directly answer that, mainly because I don’t know why some don’t get healed.  But I can answer why my wife is manifesting a healing.  The answer came as a response to the message I mailed out a few days ago.  And it came from the man who actually led me to the Lord.  And I know the answer is from God because only God knew I even asked.

“God honors the faithful.”

Now I don’t write any of this to boast.  I write to both glorify God and to offer encouragement perhaps to somebody who needs it.

Heb 11:6 (NIV)  And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

If we will continually look for God, and if we will believe God really wants to heal us, it WILL come.

Now I can hear the murmuring.  Somebody is thinking, “this guy believes those who don’t get healed lack faith”.  And you would be right!  The fact is we all lack faith.

Mat 17:18-20 (NIV)  Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed from that moment. {19} Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, "Why couldn't we drive it out?" {20} He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Notice that Jesus healed the boy and the disciples wanted to know why they were unable.  And His answer, ”you have such little faith”.

What I want to know is if any of these people who think they don’t lack faith can say to the mountain move and see it moved?

Truth is (and I’ve been there too so don’t feel bad) we are dishonest with ourselves when we think we don’t lack faith.  The faithful man is the one who diligently seeks God to grow his faith.  For God to honor you you’ll need to first get honest with yourself.

I don’t wish to argue with anyone.  And I’m sorry if I’ve stepped on anybody’s theological toes.  For most of my life I’ve ‘reasoned’ the answers.  Now I’ve learned how to ask God and listen for His answer.  That’s how you reason with God.

Isa 1:18-19 (NIV)  "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. {19} If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land

I really believe God wants us to have the best.  Whatever your circumstance, God cares.  And we really shouldn’t justify our circumstances as being God’s will.  God’s will isn’t always done is it?  Unless you believe what Satan is doing is God’s will.  Unless you believe sin is God’s will.

And please, save the yeah buts.  I’m not going to hear it.  My faith is cemented this way.  Even if I come to a place where I need healing and never get it I will still believe this.  Because I know in my heart that if it doesn’t come, I’m missing it.  I’ll know that my faith just isn’t big enough.  God’s not holding out.  I also know I have forever for my faith to get as big as it needs to be.

Again, sorry if what I’m saying is crossways with your own beliefs.  I’m just telling you what God has shown me.

Phil 3:14-16 (NIV)  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. {15} All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. {16} Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

If you aren’t ready to accept these things, I’ll accept that.  But please, do us both the favor and don’t try to convince me otherwise.  I’d rather be corrected by God.

Heb 12:5-7 (NIV)  And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, {6} because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son." {7} Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

I know what it’s like to be disciplined.  I don’t know about you, but whenever I am disciplined I look for what I’m doing wrong.  I look for how I need to change.  I don’t just pass it off as somebody has decided this is a good thing for me.

So consider the hardship you are in as discipline.  Look to God for correction, for direction, for training, for help.  Let Him grow your faith.

Well, I’ve rambled on a bit, sorry for that.  I hope all who read this will take it in the light intended.  As encouragement.  I hope all who read this will be honest with themselves and seek the honor that comes from God only.  Be faithful, seek the honor that comes from God.

John 5:44 (KJV)  How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

Thank you Lord

When Heaven Touches Earth

Struggling with my sin
Wrestling with my frustrations
I pondered how it was I kept finding myself in this place

I realized that like everyone I have needs
We were not designed to be an island
Yet often those things we need for completion are missing

Again I had reached out in another vain attempt
Again I sought to meet my needs my own way
Again I came away empty

I realized our most basic need is love
Could it be that every act of sin is a desperate cry for love
Is it love that completes us

I saw Jesus standing there
Taking the mud and healing the man who was blind
I heard Him asked who had sinned
I heard His answer
“I must complete my Father’s work”
I saw Adam being formed out of the dust
I realized this man who was born blind was incomplete
And that the mud was the dust Adam was made of
That Jesus was completing the man

I saw heaven open up
And the hand of God touching the earth
The earth sprang to life
I heard Jesus say
“I have come to bring abundant life”

I pondered, what did all this mean
In this life we are incomplete
We can not complete ourselves
But Jesus, the love of God, can

I saw the hand of Christ reach out and touch my heart
I heard a voice saying
“When heaven touches earth
the earth is healed and made complete”

In that brief moment I knew love

Faith demands that we be uncertain of our next step
But certain of God and the love of God
That we trust He will complete us
That heaven will touch earth
And life will spring forth

Suddenly I see how anything apart from faith is sin
How we need to have faith that God does want to complete us
To make us whole
To be made holy as He is holy

When Faith Comes

Lamentations 3:37 -- Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it?

Many have recognized the power of words and how faith is energized by our words.  Certainly when Jesus speaks to the mountain it is moved.  But sometimes our words and our prayers are little more than vain babbling.

Mat 6:7 (NIV)  And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

It’s as if sometimes we think if we shotgun enough words, or repeat something enough times that it becomes faith and makes it happen.  We sometimes try to ‘manufacture’ faith.  But faith doesn’t come that way, it comes by hearing.

We need to stop trying to resolve our own issues by trying to talk them away.  We need go to God and listen.  For faith does not come by repeating words, faith comes by hearing.  And when you know you’ve heard from God, you also know that He will do what He has said!

2 Cor 1:20 (KJV)  For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Maybe what you need today is to hear God’s promise to you that concerns your situation.  When you speak that Jesus can say Amen!  Look for the spiritual behind the physical.

For example, in recent years I have had heart trouble brought up as a health concern for me.  In the natural I’ve started exercising more, and eating better.  I’ve gotten my weight back to where it should be.  Yet I knew there was a spiritual problem behind all of this heart trouble.  I realized I was troubled in my heart.  I’ve wrestled with this for a long time and was not able to resolve it.  Some have spoken healing over me, quoting scriptures concerning healing.  Yet that did not resolve the root issue.

The root is this.  For many years I’ve been broken hearted over something.  Recently the Lord has shown me what it is.  And it is something I can not possibly fix myself.  But God is good, and He showed me the promise He made that I can stand on.  The promise I can speak that Jesus can say Amen to!

Luke 4:18-19 (KJV)  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, {19} To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

God heals the broken hearted.

The word spoke, I heard, I believed, and now I have spoken.
